Jeff Monroe, MM, AMPE International Association of Maritime and Port Executives TWIC RULE IMPLEMENTATION DELAY PROPOSED A proposal to delay the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) reader rule effective date for certain facilities was released by the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) this week. Currently, the deadline to implement the TWIC reader requirements final rule is August 23, 2018. There is also pending legislation in both the House and Senate would delay the TWIC reader rule. Jeff Monroe, MM, AMPE International Association of Maritime and Port Executives PORT SECURITY GRANT FUNDING MOVES AHEAD IN CONGRESS The FY19 Homeland Security Appropriations Bill is moving forward in Congress, having passed out of subcommittee and moving to the Senate Appropriations Committee. The Bill calls for $100 million for the Port Security Grant Program and funding for 375 US Customs officers. Jeff Monroe, MM, AMPE International Association of Maritime and Port Executives NEXT PROGRAM-INLAND PROFESSIONAL MANAGEMENT PROGRAM The Inland Rivers Port and Terminal Association (IRPT) and the International Association of Maritime and Port Professionals (IAMPE) will be holding our Inland Maritime Port Executive Management Program in 2 weeks, beginning June 18th in Milwaukee, sponsored by the Port of Milwaukee. We work carefully with the IRPT to insure that this program continues to offer a high degree of excellence based on practical experience, extensive research from numerous port projects, input from our alumni and practical application of solid academic standard
