Virtual 4-hour Continuing Education Seminar on Global Cruise Industry Dynamics
Available spots
Course Description
The IAMPE periodically offers continuing education programs that award continuing education credits (CEU's) towards attainment of the Accredited Maritime Port Executive (AMPE). Some of our continuing education programs may be eligible towards CEU requirements for professional credentials. This seminar examines the global cruise industry as a dynamic and rapidly evolving segment of maritime transport and tourism, emphasizing its strategic implications for ports, coastal destinations, and regional development. Participants will explore the structure and geography of cruise markets, including major regions, itinerary design, and the operational interplay between cruise lines, ports, and local communities. The seminar addresses key dimensions shaping the industry, including economic impacts, environmental challenges, and socio-cultural considerations associated with cruise tourism. Special attention is given to the port–cruise interface, including terminal infrastructure, destination development strategies, and the governance frameworks that influence decision-making at local and global levels. Emerging topics such as sustainability, ESG pressures, digitalization, and post-pandemic resilience are also discussed, alongside risk management and evolving regulatory environments. Through a combination of case-based analysis and applied discussion, participants will gain insights into how cruise activities can generate economic value while balancing community interests and environmental constraints. DETAILS: This is a virtual program on Tuesday, August 18th from 1:00PM - 5:00PM EDT. Please Note: This virtual seminar requires attendees to have their cameras turned on with their faces visible to receive credit. By participating, you consent to the recording of your image, voice, and likeness for attendance verification and potential educational use by the IAMPE.
