IAMPE HELD COMMISSIONERS’ SEMINAR IN PALACIOS, TX


Commissioners' Seminar in Palacios, Texas

The International Association of Maritime and Port Executives (IAMPE) is pleased to announce its first training completion of 2024: a Commissioners’ Seminar in Palacios, Texas that took place on January 31, 2024. The eight-hour program focused on current trends in the industry, as well as the duties and responsibilities of commissioners, board members, and their staffs. Upon completion, students received a letter of completion and eight Continuing Education Credits (CEUs).

 

The seminar was taught by faculty member Capt. Jeffrey Monroe, MM, AMPE, CME, and hosted at the Port of Palacios. Individuals who completed the seminar include, Victor Martinez Jr, Port Director, Port of Palacios/Matagorda County Navigation District No. 1 (MCND # 1); Jimmy E. Neeley, Commissioner, MCND # 1; Alan C. Schulman, Commissioner, MCND # 1; Greg T. Seaman, Commissioner, MCND # 1; Victor L. Eggemeyer, Commissioner, MCND # 1; Isidro O. Castanon, Port Attorney, Allen, Stein & Durbin; Loy Sneary, Port Consultant, Sneary & Associates.

 

The IAMPE offers one- and two-day seminars for port commissions and boards, and we cover a practical overview of the port industry, port decision making, the role of commissions, and lead a visioning session at the end of the seminar. The IAMPE is a non-profit industry association that provides professional development for port/ terminal maritime managers and executives, as well as certification for operational personnel worldwide. Programs are reviewed and approved for certification by the IAMPE’s Board of Advisors, comprised of 20 industry professionals. The Association offers professional and accredited programs in Coastal and Inland Port Management and Executive Management, as well as certification programs for Marine Terminal Operator and IMDG/Hazardous Awareness. The Association has over 2,600 alumni worldwide and is the only industry association offering professional certification to port managers worldwide.
